Desert Botanical Garden: A Haven for Nature Lovers

The Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, Arizona, is a true gem for nature enthusiasts and offers a unique view of desert beauty. Spread across 140 acres, the Garden boasts over 50,000 plants, displaying the rich biodiversity of the desert. Visitors can explore five thematic trails, which highlight various aspects of desert flora, such as conservation, desert living, and the plants and people of the Sonoran Desert.

Current Events

The Garden is a place to admire desert plants and a hub for various cultural and educational events. Some of the notable events include:

  • Fernando Botero: El Maestro (October 7 – March 31): An exhibition celebrating the Colombian artist Fernando Botero with a collection of paintings, drawings, and monumental sculptures.
  • Las Noches de las Luminarias (Dec. 19-23, 26-30): An enchanting holiday season event featuring trails lit with luminarias and twinkling lights, accompanied by musical performances.
  • Devour Culinary Classic (Feb. 24 & 25): A highly anticipated tasting event showcasing eclectic culinary delights.

Cactus Clubhouse and the Majestic Mariposas Exhibit

The Garden hosts the Cactus Clubhouse and the Majestic Mariposas exhibit, offering immersive experiences for both children and adults. 

The Cactus Clubhouse allows kids to engage in activities promoting independent play and learning. At the same time, Majestic Mariposas features a living exhibit with over a thousand free-flying Southwestern butterflies.
